Genealogical Expertise is a comprehensive analytical service designed to achieve the following objectives:

- Data Collection & Systematization: We filter, organize, and summarize all information provided by the client. If the initial data is insufficient to begin archival searches, we can—by mutual agreement—conduct interviews with the client’s relatives, either in person or via telephone.
- Data Clarification through Official Inquiries: When information is missing or inaccurate, we submit inquiries to Civil Registry Offices (RACS) and other government agencies or organizations that may hold relevant records. This stage also includes targeted archival lookups for specific birth, marriage, or death certificates.
- Initial Lineage Mapping: Construction of a preliminary genealogical chart to provide a clear visual representation of the starting data.
- Archival Source Reconnaissance: Investigating the availability, volume, and physical condition of historical sources (funds) within the relevant archives.
- Prospect Assessment: Determining the potential depth of the family history research and providing an estimated timeframe for completion.
- Budgeting: Preparation of a detailed cost estimate for the full-scale genealogical investigation.
Genealogical Expertise and Sources

Unfortunately, the question of whether archival sources exist often turns into the problem of their absence. A significant number of documents have not survived to the present day. Ukraine’s territory was a major theater for two World Wars, which had a profound impact on our documentary heritage.
- World War I (1914–1917): While devastating, this period was relatively less damaging to the overall preservation of genealogical sources on Ukrainian soil.
- World War II (1941–1945): This conflict was catastrophic for the entire Ukrainian SSR. Due to intensive aerial bombardments and the rapid advancement of Nazi forces, countless documents were incinerated. Many records that were evacuated to the East were never returned after the war; a substantial portion remains in Russian archives to this day.
- Modern Threats: Unfortunately, historical sources continue to be lost in modern times. A tragic example is the fire on April 10, 2003, at the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Archive. A vast number of records were destroyed, including critical genealogical sources for the Podolia Governorate dating from the late 18th to the early 20th centuries.
The Primary Task of Genealogical Expertise Given these historical realities, the first and most critical objective of our genealogical expertise is to conduct a thorough assessment of the existing source base and its accessibility. Before committing to a full-scale search, we must determine what has survived and what is physically available for research.
